Artist of the Month

On February 14th “The Art of Eleuthera” will go on display in The Wright Place as the next exhibit in our Artist of the Month program.  “The Art of Eleuthera” is a collection of digital photographs taken during First Church’s mission trips to the Bahamas in 2010–2012. The photographs are divided into three thematic sections.  “The People” will feature black and white portraits of the people of Eleuthera. “The Beauty” will include breathtaking landscape photographs highlighting the natural beauty of the island and a photojournalistic display called “The Purpose” will highlight the stories and work projects of these mission trips through photographs.  “The Art of Eleuthera” is on display through March 19th and will serve to help build awareness of the great work that our church is doing in missions on the island of Eleuthera. Our youth will be traveling to Eleuthera in March to work during spring break and future mission trips (open to the whole church) are being planned for the coming year.

In Appreciation:
We would like to extend a special thanks to Gordon Levi for his thoughtful leadership of The Artist of the Month program during the past few years. Under his leadership the program has featured a wide array of beautiful art exhibits, promoting art in both our church and in the community.  Thank you Gordon for your contribution to the arts!.

Throughout the year, First United Methodist Church features an Artist of the Month.  Featured art from the Artist of the Month can be viewed in The Wright Place on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings or during the week by special appointment.  Most artwork is also available for purchase at the end of the show.  To learn more about the Artist of the Month program, or to inquire about being a featured artist, please contact Jeb Hunt.
