Pixie Alexander
March 13 – April 9
Pixie Alexander is the juror for the 2018 Pensacola Art Study Club Member’s Spring Show. Pixie is a free-lance artist who currently resides in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She began making art as a teenager in the 1980’s working with diverse media, from sculpture and photography, to film, dance and writing. Her academic education included attendance at the University of Alabama, the New York Studio School in Manhattan, Hunter College, and Columbia University where she graduated with a master’s degree in Urban Planning. Upon graduating to gutted job market, and moving to the Florida panhandle, Pixie rediscovered painting. She identifies herself as “a very formal, painterly painter”. Pixie states, “when I give my attention to a painting, it has really always been the color and the material, the formal aspects of painting, that ultimately enchant me and give life to what I do in that realm”.
