The weekend will include break-out sessions, pumpkin carving, canoeing, roasting marshmallows, playing games, and fellowshipping! The Rev. Dr. Joy J. Moore, the Chapman-Benson Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Huntingdon College, will be our retreat speaker. Dr. Moore is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and holds a Ph.D. in Practical Theology from Brunel University/London School of Theology. Her extensive academic career includes leadership roles at Luther Seminary, Wesley Seminary, Fuller Theological Seminary, and Duke Divinity School. A prolific writer and preacher, Dr. Moore is committed to helping others practice and explain Christian hope, making her a compelling and inspiring voice for our retreat. Dr. Moore is a host of the highly popular Sermon Brainwave Podcast (a favorite of Pastor Geoffrey’s). We hope you will join us for a great weekend with your First Church family!
